Dalmatian Coast

Dalmatian Coast

Dalmatia is a picturesque area to sail – we have 5 bases there altogether (Zadar, Biograd, Trogir, Split, Krvavica, whether in the south or in the north). From all these places, charter sailors can discover the beauty of the coasts and the islands, for example Trogir and Split, whose tricked-out old cities seduce almost every traveller. You can head to Hvar and Korcula (a must see: the birthplace of Marco Polo, who was born here in 1254), islands thathave brick settlements made out of the purest marble. Or, with the help of the summer wind Maestral, rush through the world of islands towards the southern part – and get to know also Dubrovnik, the pearl of Adria, which has been announced by UNESCO as a world ́s cultural heritage. So, what did the biggest dramatist of England, George Bernard Shaw, write in the beginning of the previous century in his travel diary? “Those who seek paradise on Earth should come to Dubrovnik”. Those who have sailed along the dalmatian coast will agree for sure – with one alterat on. This statement is not only true about Dubrovnik – but for the whole Dalmatia.

  • Weather & Wind

Usually in the summer the area is controlled by a north-western wind, the Maistral. It blows
usually before noon, reaching 3 to 4 Beaufort in the afternoon, and it disappears again in
the evening. On warm days with a calm wind you should also count on a sea breeze in the
evening. The notorious Bora, a north-eastern wind, may bring along a wild southern wind,
    the Jugo.
